Small hotel & restaurant · island of Vis
Twelve rooms in a restored stone house right on the shore, a restaurant on the terrace above the cove, and hosts who reply to you personally. Book direct: no middlemen, and breakfast is included.

The House
Fishermen built the house about a hundred years ago, from stone quarried right behind it. We restored it slowly, side by side with local craftsmen: the walls are still thick and cool, the shutters still green, and the beams in the attic are the original ones.
Today it's a small family-run hotel with twelve rooms, a restaurant on the terrace and a view of the islet across the water. No entertainment programme and no music until midnight. Just the sea, the pines and dinners that last as long as you like.

Rooms
Every room is different, as rooms in old houses tend to be. All of them have air conditioning, a private bathroom, good mattresses and cotton and linen bedding.

The doors open straight onto a terrace with two canvas chairs, looking out over open sea to the islet across the water.

A canopy bed, a stone wall and doors you open in the morning onto a small balcony above the garden.

An attic room with old timber beams and a headboard made from a blue door. There's space for a third guest, too.

Stone, hand-painted tiles on the headboard and a bathroom that catches the morning sun.

The largest room in the house: a round bathtub under the beams, a stone wall and a separate seating area.

A small, bright and quiet room for two, for guests who spend the whole day by the sea anyway.

Book direct
When you book with us directly, the money stays on the island and you get more for the same price. And it's us you talk to, from your first question to your last morning.
We don't pay a middleman, so the same price gets you more: breakfast, the transfer and flexible cancellation.
Home-made bread, cheese, figs and island eggs, served on the terrace until 10:30.
We meet you on the waterfront in Vis and drive you to the hotel at no extra cost.
Cancel up to 14 days before arrival and we refund your deposit in full.
We save you a sunset table on the restaurant terrace.

Guest notes
We sent our enquiry at midnight and had a reply before breakfast. On the ferry there was already a message with the exact transfer time. From then on, we didn't have to think about a thing.
“Grilled sardines and a glass of Vugava while the sun went down behind the islet. We ate like that four evenings in a row and never once wanted to go anywhere else.”
“The rooms aren't big, but they're exactly like the photos: stone, white bedding and shutters you open onto the sea in the morning. We didn't need anything more.”
“With two small children, we were worried the trip to the island would be complicated. Our hosts sent us the ferry timetable and a list of beaches with shallow water before we left, and the kitchen was happy to cook simpler dishes for the little ones.”
“Peaceful, with no noise and no crowds. We took a kayak from right outside the hotel and paddled ourselves to the caves round the headland. The best day of our summer.”

The Restaurant
Our kitchen cooks whatever came off the boat and out of the garden that morning: fish from the grill, Vis flatbread pie, vegetables from the neighbouring fields and wine from the island's vineyards.
Guests who aren't staying with us are welcome too, but please book, as there are only twelve tables on the terrace.
filled with sardines, onion and tomato, from an old island recipe
with Swiss chard, potatoes and our own olive oil
with lemon and shallot vinegar
grilled whole, depending on what the morning boats bring in
slow-baked in the embers for two, order a day ahead
with almonds and home-made ice cream
Send us a message or give us a call. For a sunset table, book the day before.

Bread from our own oven, island cheese and prosciutto, figs, home-made jam and eggs just the way you like them. Included with every direct booking.
The Island
One of the most remote inhabited islands in the Adriatic: hidden coves, vineyards and fishing villages without the crowds. We'll gladly help you find them.

The faster way, without a car. The catamaran docks on the waterfront in Vis, where we'll be waiting for you.
Free for guests who book direct. A short drive through the vineyards down to our cove.
Take a taxi or the bus to the ferry port. We're happy to help you time your flight with the boat.

No. We meet you off the ferry, and for trips around the island we can arrange a taxi, a scooter or an e-bike. The sea is twenty metres from the house and the restaurant is on our own terrace.

Very much so. We set up a cot and a high chair free of charge, and the Suite with Bathtub and the Room Under the Beams have space for an extra bed.

Yes, by reservation. There are only twelve tables on the terrace, so for sunset we recommend booking the day before.
The house is old and has stairs. The classic room on the ground floor has just one step at the entrance and a level-access shower. Get in touch and we'll work out together whether it's right for you.
